This guide will show Diablo 4 players when Season 1 starts and what’s to come.

When will Diablo 4 Season 1 start?

Diablo 4 Season 1: Season of the Malignant will go live on Thursday, July 20 for servers in all regions by Blizzard. Blizzard did not announce the exact time the season would go live, but a countdown timer was provided on the game’s official website. According to this timer, the season will start at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST for North America and 6:00 PM BST for the UK.

As the season doesn’t officially start until July 20th, however, on July 18th the game will receive an update that will include fundamental gameplay changes to the Eternal Realm, such as improved quality of life and additional Legendary and Amazing gear. Blizzard is actually encouraging players to successfully transfer all current progress during the two-day period before they can create seasonal characters on July 20.

Blizzard has revealed that the first season will run for approximately three months, while all seasons will have a minimum duration of 12 weeks. This would lead to the start of the second season sometime in October 2023.

What’s Being Added In Diablo 4 Season 1?

In Diablo 4, the main feature of Malignant Season is the new Malignant Heart mechanic. These are items that are gem-like stones and can be placed in any of a character’s three accessory slots, providing bonuses comparable to legendary gear. There will be over 30 Malignant Hearts that can be earned by defeating certain enemies.

This feature will be joined by a new quest line for this season in which players team up with Cormond, a former military church priest, to uncover the source of the Malignant threat before it spreads within Sanctuary. Season of the Malignant also introduces a new boss battle, six amazing items, seven Legendary Aspects and cosmetic rewards that can be earned from the free and paid tiers of the Battle Pass.

Diablo 4 story

The story of Diablo 4 begins with the construction of the Sanctuary, as seen in the first installment of the Book of Lorath, which is narrated by the distinctive Yorkshire-toned voice of Ralph Ineson. We learn that there was once a man named Anu, who was the epitome of both good and evil. After deciding to sever ties with evil, it eventually manifested in corporeal form, and the two beings fought for ages.

From Tathamet, three Prime Evils gain power: Mephisto, Baal, and Diablo. Mephisto had two children – Lucion and Lilith – who are the main enemies of Diablo 4, who were summoned by a necromancer who wields the map. Four Lesser Evils were also created: Andariel, Duriel, Azmodan, and Belial.

To complete the creation of the Prime Evils, the Council of Angiris was formed, led by several Archangels. Fans will be familiar with Tyriel, who became incapacitated as the Archangel of Justice, and Mathael, who had abandoned his position but later became an authentic being to serve as the face of wisdom. Other archangels include Imperius, Inarius, Auriel, and Ethereal. Inarius and Lilith stole the Worldstone to create the Sanctuary, and their reappearance sets the cycles in motion in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 skills

One system that’s gotten a bit of an overhaul is Diablo 4’s skill tree. Activision Blizzard has stated that “players will not be allowed to obtain every skill tree node,” and that they are “aiming to have 30~40% of the nodes filled so far for the final game to allow players to create their character in different and varied ways.”

The skill tree in Diablo 4 is a real tree, rather than the projected tree that represents an immediate background transfer in most games. In this branches grow in the active skill tree, while passive upgrades spread out at the root of the skill tree. You get different skill points and passive points to spend in each section. Different classes have their own special mechanics. Sorcerers currently have an enchantment system, in which you can assign active skills to passive enchantment slots. An example of this is the Meteor spell; When it is cast as an Enchantment, it does not require you to actively cast it yourself, but instead allows you to drop meteors at regular intervals on intoxicating trades yourself. We now know that skills are linked to weapon damage.

The rogue classes are allowed to use multiple attributes, each of which requires separate quests to complete. These features allow Rogues to gain a skill that imbues their ranged or melee combat with special effects. For example, Shadow Realm creates a dark dungeon in which Rogues can isolate targets and destroy them without interference from their teammates.
