Baldur’s Gate 3 Mushroom Picker: How to save Baelen in BG3

Myconid Colony Baldur’s Gate 3, is absolutely one of the most beautiful places, but when you reach, you find a woman searching for her husband. The woman’s husband, named Baelen, searches for mushroom and appears to be in trouble. This leads to the beginning of the quest The Mushroom Picker.

Baelen has disappeared, and when you reach his location, he’s in the middle of a mushroom field. However, these are not just any mushroom, as they will explode if you get too close to them. Naturally, having Baelen in the middle of this area isn’t ideal, and you need to figure out a way to free him so he can safely return to his wife and continue his life in the Myconid Colony.

Here’s how you can save Belen from this menace in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Where to find the Mushroom Picker: Baelen’s location in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baelen is located northwest of the Myconid Colony, and northeast of the Susur Tree waypoint. There is only one road leading to the mushroom field where it is hidden, as you can see below.

In the Myconid Colony, you can head west along the road and climb a cluster of mushrooms to reach a new path. From this point, proceed a short distance to the north until you reach the junction. At the junction, keep going north. This path will take you straight to the mushroom fields.

Saving Baelen from the mushrooms in Baldur’s Gate 3

Once I was in the middle of a mushroom field, I had a few options. I? I decided to embrace my chaotic nature and shoot an arrow at that same mushroom, which started a chain reaction that caused every mushroom in the field to explode. Somehow Belen managed to escape it and ran out of the farm when it was on fire. However, he was able to recover and I was able to talk him into returning safely to my wife.

However, if you want a safer option, you can use Misty Step or Fly spells to teleport to a safe area behind the mushroom field. Here you will also find his bag with Baelen. To get the Scroll of Misty Steps, open Baelen’s bag and then toss it at her. He would then use it to propel himself safely off the ground. You can teleport again to exit the arena and then talk to Belen to make sure she gets home safely.

To complete the Mushroom Harvester quest, you’ll need to talk to his wife, Derith, in the Myconid colony.
